KHEER | POHA KI KHEER

Kheer is very delicious and popular Sweet in India. It has many names in all over India, like Mitha Bhat, Payesh, Payasam, Ksheeram etc. This sweet dish is mainly made with milk, rice and sugar. But here we will make kheer with using of Poha instead of rice.

INGREDIENTS:

*1cup - 250ml; *1tbsp. – Tablespoon; *1tsp. – Teaspoon; 
  • Flattened rice (Poha) – 1 cup
  • Sugar – ¼ cup
  • Milk – 500 ml.
  • Milk Powder – 1/3 cup
  • Salt – ¼ tsp.
  • Cashew – ¼ cup
  • Cardamom (Elaichi) – 2 piece
  • Saffron (Kesar) – ¼ tsp.
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp.
  • Water – 2 cups


INGREDIENTS FOR POHA KI KHEER

Follow these steps to make Poha ki Kheer


PREPARATIONS:


1.  Take thick flattened rice (Mota poha) for this recipe, wash it very well and leave it for 2 minutes.


2.  Take cooking pan, add 1 cup of water, warm it and add the ¼ cup of milk powder and mix it. Put this milk on a bowl, add ¼ tsp. of saffron on it, lid on and rest it for 2 minutes.


**Tips: you can use normal milk to get the color of saffron.


3.  Cut the cashew into small pieces.



RECIPE:


1.  Take a pan, put the 500 ml. of milk on the pan, add 1 cup of water on it, 2 piece cardamom (Elaichi) and boil it for 3-5 minutes.


2.  Now add the washed flattered rice (Poha) and cashew pieces on the milk, cook them for 5 minutes.


3.  In this stage we will add the saffron (Keshar) milk and ¼ tsp. of salt on the pan, mix them well and cook for another 4-5 minutes.


4. Now flattered rice (poha) is cooked properly and milk has been condensed, now add ¼ cup of sugar and cook for another 2-3 minutes.


5.  Kheer is ready, off the heat, Add 1 tbsp. of ghee on kheer and mix it. Now Poha Ki Kheer is ready to be served. It is a good dessert after lunch or dinner.


**Tips: Sweets or desserts tastes more delicious and tasty when it in room temperature or cold.
