LAUKI KI DAL | BOTTLE GOURD DAL

Bottle Gourd Dal (pulse) is very regular dish in every Indian kitchen. They always prefer dal with their meal. In India, there are various types of dal (pulse) recipes. It is soupy, thick; yellow in color and combo with lunch to dinner every dish. Bottle gourd dal is totally a veg dish. Dal is tasty, delicious and also healthy for the family.

Today we will make Veg Bottle Gourd Dal (Lauki ki dal).

INGREDIENTS:

*1cup - 250ml; *1tbsp. – Tablespoon; *1tsp. – Teaspoon;  
  • Bottle gourd (Lauki) – 250 - 300 gm (or 3 Cups)
  • Moong pulses (Mung dal) – ¼ cup
  • Turmeric (haldi) – ½ tsp.
  • Dry red chili ( lal mirch) – 1 piece
  • Bay leave (tej patta) – 1 piece
  • Cumin seeds (Jeera) – ½ tsp.
  • Cumin (jeera) powder – 1 tsp.
  • Water – 2 to 3 cups
  • Oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Salt – as your taste
  • Sugar – ½ tsp.
  • Ghee – 1 tsp.

Follow these steps to make Bottle Gourd Dal


PREPARATIONS:


1.  Peel the bottle gourd (lauki), cut it into small pieces and wash it.

**Tips: Choose small and full green bottle gourd (lauki).

**Tips: Take ½ cup of sleeted moong pulses (dal).


MOONG KI DAL

RECIPES:


Step 1: Heat the pan and put 2 tbsp. of oil on pan, add dry red chili, bay leave and ½ tsp. of cumin (jeera) seeds on pan and fry for ½ minute.


Step 2: Now add ½ cup of moong dal and fry for one minute.


Step 3: In that stage add the chopped bottle gourd and roast for at least 5-6 minutes.


Step 4: Now add ½ tsp. of turmeric (Haldi), 1tsp. of cumin (Jeera) powder, ½ tsp. of sugar and salt as your taste. Mix them well.


Step 5: Take a pressure cooker, add 2½ cups of water, heat the water and add all roasted bottle gourds. Cook for 3 to 4 whistles.


Step 6: Now open the cooker lid and put ½ tsp. of ghee on dal. Veg bottle gourd dal (Lauki ki dal) is ready to be served. This veg recipe is very good combo with Roti
