WHAT IS CHOLE MASALA:


Chola Masala is a Panjabi dish. It is spicy and best combo with Naan. Panjabi cuisine is full of butter and ghee and lots of love. We will make this recipe with less oil, so that anyone can eat this. Today we will make Paneer Chola Masala followed by these easy steps below.

INGREDIENTS:

*1cup - 250ml; *1tbsp. – Tablespoon; *1tsp. – Teaspoon; 

  • Chickpeas (Chole) – 1 cup
  • Paneer – 100 gm
  • Onion – 2 medium size
  • Tomato – 2 small
  • Curd – ¼ cup
  • Whole garam masala – 1 inch cinnamon, 1 cardamom and 3 cloves
  • Turmeric (haldi) – ½ tsp.
  • Red chili ( lal mirch) – ½ tsp.
  • Cumin powder (Jeera) – 1 tsp.
  • Ginger & garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
  • Sugar – ½ tsp.                      
  • Salt – as your taste
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp.
  • Oil or butter – 2 to 3 tbsp.
  • Water – 2 cup or as much you want

INSTRUCTIONS: 

1.  Soak the chickpea for 4-5 hours, boil up to 5-6 whistles in the pressure cooker, and drain the excess water after boiling.

2. Cut the paneer into small pieces; fry them slightly in oil or butter. Keep it aside.

3.  Make the tomato puree by using two tomatoes.

4.  Put the masalas (spices) like cumin powder, turmeric powder and red chili on curd and mix it well for 1 min.

5.  Chop the onions into small pieces.


HOW TO MAKE CHOLE MASALA:


Step 1: Heat the pan, put 3 tbsp. of oil on the pan, heat the oil, add the chopped onions and fry them until brown.

Step 2: Once onions are fried, add ginger & garlic paste and roast it for 1 more minute.

Step 3: Now add the masala curd and roast for another 1-2 minute.

Step 4: Add boiled chickpeas (chole) on the masala and roast for 2 minutes, now add fried paneer and mix them well.

Step 5: Add 2 cups of water and put the lid on. Cook for 10-15 minutes more on low heat.

Step 6: Now add 1 tsp. of garam masala on it and turn off the heat.

Step 7: Chole masala is ready to be served. You can enjoy this dish with Naan, Bhature or Kulcha.
