ONION PAKORA RECIPE

WHAT IS POKORA:

Pakora is one of the most popular Indian Snacks. You can make it using different vegetables and gram flour (besan). There are many types of Onion Pakora recipes in India. From North to South and East to West part of India you can taste the uniqueness of Indian Cuisine. Basically Pakora is a type of crunchy fries and you can serve it as a morning or evening snacks with chatpata chutney.

INGREDIENTS:

*1cup - 250ml; *1tbsp. – Tablespoon; *1tsp. – Teaspoon; 
  • Onions – 3 medium sizes
  • Gram flour – ½ cup
  • Red chili Powder – 1 tsp (you can also use green chilies)
  • Rice flour – 1½ to 2 tbsp.
  • Curry leaves – ½ cup (or 2 bunches)
  • Salt – 1 tsp or as per your taste
  • Water – ¼ cup
  • Oil – for deep fry

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Cut the 3 onions into medium slices.

2.  Wash the curry leaves and chop them.



HOW TO MAKE ONION PAKORA:


Step 1: Take a big bowl, put the onions slices and curry leaves in it. Now add ½ cup gram flour, 2 tbsp. of rice flour, 1 tsp of red chili powder and 1 tsp of salt in the bowl one by one. Mix them very well.

Tips: Use your hand to mix them, make sure that every slice of onion is separated on that time.

Step 2: Meantime add little water at a time on the Pakora mixture and mix them, make a thick bind of batter. Rest this batter for 5 to 10 minutes.

Tips: you can also use grated cheese on this to add more cheesy taste.

Step 3: Take a fry pan on heat, add one cup of oil on pan and heat it. Now use a spoon to take the batter and put it on the oil one by one.

Tips: Make sure that do the allover frying on low heat.

Step 4: Fry the Pakora for 3 to 5 minutes on low flame and take them out on a plate covered by tissue paper.
