PRAWN CURRY RECIPE

WHAT IS PRAWN CURRY:

In India, there are many types of prawns and its recipes. Today we will make a different type of prawn curry, which have a delicious taste of vegetables and Indian spices. This dish is basically belongs to Bengali’s cuisineToday’s my recipe is Bengali Parwal (Pointed Gourd) Prawn Curry.

INGREDEINTS:


*1cup - 250ml; *1tbsp – tablespoon; *1tsp – teaspoon;
  • Prawn – 250 gm
  • Pointed Gourd (Parwal) – 4 to 5 pieces
  • Potato – 1 big size
  • Onions – 2 medium sizes
  • Ginger and garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
  • Turmeric (haldi) powder – 1 tsp
  • Red chili (lal mirch) powder – ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as your taste
  • Water – 2½ cups
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp
  • Oil – 4 to 5 tbsp.

INSTRUCTIONS:


1.  Take fresh and medium size 250 gm Prawns, peel all properly and wash them well. Now add 1tsp of salt and ¼ tsp. of turmeric (haldi) powder on them, mix well and leave it for rest (5minutes).

2.  Cut the vegetables (Potato and Parwal) into medium pieces.

3.  Chop 2 onions into small slices.

4.  After 5 minutes of marinated of prawns, take a pan, add 1-2 tbsp. of oil, heat it and fry the prawns in golden color.

Tips: Avoid the used pan or clean it properly for use of next steps of cooking.

HOW TO MAKE PRAWN CURRY:


Step 1: Take a pan, Put 2-3 tbsp. of oil and heat it. Now add the pieces of Pointed Gourd (parwal) on it and fry them till golden in color. Take them out in a bowl. In same way we will fry the potatoes and take them out in a bowl.

Step 2: Put 2 tbsp. of oil on same pan, heat it and add the chopped onions on pan and fry them till brown in color.

Step 3: In that stage add 1 tbsp. of ginger and garlic paste on pan and roast them all for 2 minutes.

Step 4: Now add 1 tsp. of cumin (Jeera) powder, ½ tsp. of turmeric (haldi) powder and ½ tsp. of red chili (lal mirch) powder on pan and mix them well.

Step 5: In that stage add fried potatoes and pointed gourd on pan, mix them all and roast for another 1-2 minutes. Now add 2½ cup of water on it. When it starts boiling add the fried prawns on pan, reduce the heat, put a lid on and cook for 10-15 minutes.

Step 6: Turn off the heat, add ½ tsp. of garam masala on prawn curry. Prawn Curry is ready to be served. This is a Bengali dish and good side dish for Lunch time with Rice and Roti.
