BAKED BASA FILLET RECIPE

WHAT IS BASA FISH:

Basa is one type of cat fish. In India it known by some native names likes Pungus. Taste wise basa is very famous. Along with its taste it has also some health benefits. Most of the people like it because of its boneless meat. Except that it has some other valuable minerals which we need. Looking after these benefits, today I am going to share a simple Baked Basa Fillet recipe.

TOTAL TIME TO COOK BAKED BASA FILLET:

INGREDIENTS:

1cup-250ml/230gm; *1tbsp.–Tablespoon; *1tsp.–Teaspoon; 

    • Basa fillet – 300gm
    • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
    • Tomato puree – 1 tbsp.
    • Coriander leaves – ¼ cup
    • Black pepper – ½ tsp
    • Chili flakes – ½ tsp
    • Black salt – ½ tsp
    • Lemon – ½ pieces
    • Oil – 1 tbsp.
    • Vegetables for garnish – (tomato, capsicum, onion)




INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Always choose basa fillet for this recipe. Here I am using frozen basa fillet, you can choose fresh one. It will taste better.

2.  You can replace chili flakes with chili powder. In that case use ¼ tsp of chili powder.

3.  I am using tomato, onion & capsicum slices as a garnish vegies. Choose your own preferable vegetables.

4.  Here I have used tomato ketchup instead of tomato puree.

5.  Chopped coriander is for both garnish & cooking.

 



HOW TO COOK BAKED BASA FILLET:

 

Step 1: First take the basa fillet into a plate. Now add ½ tsp of black salt & black pepper into it. Then squeeze ½ of lemon juice on fish fillet and mix them properly using you hand. Keep it aside for 20 minutes for marinating.

Step 2: Meanwhile take a bowl, now add 1 tbsp. of ginger garlic paste, ½ tsp chili flakes, 1 tbsp. tomato ketchup, 1tbsp. chopped coriander leaves & 1 tbsp. oil into it. Now make a sauce by blending them all together.

Step 3: Then add the sauce into the fillet & mix them all together. Wait for another 10 minutes.

Step 4: After that put the marinated fillet on a baking tray. Now garnish it with using the vegetable slices.

Step 5: Now put the oven in convection mode at 180°C to preheat. Then put the tray into oven & set the baking time for 25 minutes at 180°C.

Yes, it is healthy. As like other fish, basa is also a good source of animal proteins. After a certain time every women need Omega-3 fatty acid, basa contains sufficient amount of omega-3. Because of low carbs & fat, basa is eatable for every age of people. It also contains very minimal amount of mercury. To avoid the high % of mercury, choose smaller size or less than 1 kg of basa fish.

IS BASA FISH SAFE TO EAT?

Yes it is also safe to eat. We all know that frozen fish are preserved by many type chemicals. If you get zonal fresh fish, then it will not contains harmful chemicals. And the other hand, if you buy your own country’s frozen fish. Then it will also not contain that much of noxious chemicals. Harmful chemical is required for preserving the fish when it is traveling for a long distance. In that case it contains noxious chemicals which prevents from spoil. So always see behind the packet before buy frozen basa fillet.

WHY ARE BASA FILLETS SO CHEAP? 

Cheap price it totally related to the availability of the fish. In India Basa fish’s price is entirely dependent on its availability. In south India basa’s price is less than that of East India. Farming, harvesting, labour & transport cost are directly put effect on the price of anything.
