In today’s time cake has made a place in our bite of food. We used to buy cakes only on anniversaries or birthdays. But now we don’t need any special occasion to make it at home. Today’s my recipe is all about the special sponge cake. I have used “the special sponge cake” because I have tried many times to make it perfect and finally I cracked its secrets to make it properly. This cake is my family’s favorite cake.

I eagerly wanted to share this sponge cake recipe to everyone that they can also make it for their special one. This cake is very spongy as well as tasty. I have shared some cake recipes before you can check it out in Recipes and cook.

*1cup_250ml/230gms, *1tbsp._Tablespoon, *1tsp._Teaspoon 

  •  All purpose flour –1½ cups
  •  Milk – ½ cups
  •  Sugar – ½ cups
  •  Baking soda – ½ tsp.
  •  Baking powder – 2 tsp 
  •  Vegetable oil – 2/3 cup
  •  Butter scotch essence – 1 tsp. (or you can use vanilla essence)
  •  Eggs – 3 pieces


You can do this cake in convection oven where you need to preheat it on 180 degree Celsius. Otherwise you can take a flat pan, put some salt on pan spread it properly on base. Now put lid on pan to get the temperature.


Step 1: In a bowl crack 3 eggs into it and beat it for 15 minutes or until you can see lots of bubbles into it.

Tips:  If you have electric beater you can use it, here it will take 5-10 minutes to get creamy.

Step 2: Now take another bowl, where you will make cake batter. Add 2/3rd cup of sugar into it, after that add milk on it. Now stir them until sugar melts properly.

Tips: You can grind the sugar before using it, it melts with milk easily. Don’t use hot milk for making batter.

Step 3: Now in this bowl add 1½ cup of flour, ½ tbsp. baking soda and 2 tbsp. baking powder and mix them slowly.

Tips: Strain them all for better result.

Step 4: Add 2/3rd cup oil and 1 tsp. of butter scotch essence into the mixture and mix them properly.


Step 5: Add the beaten eggs into cake mixture and gently mix them. Your cake batter is now ready to bake.

Tips: If your eggs are not beaten then you can your mixer grinder where you can mix eggs, sugar and oil together. It really works, try it.

Step 6: If you are going to bake it by using oven then preheat the oven. Now pour the batter into a baking tray and put it into the oven to bake it for 25 minutes.


Tips: Brush the baking tray with oil before pouring batter into it. Oil prevents cake to burn from below and after baking it will come out without any trouble.

Step 7: If you don’t have oven then make it your homemade oven which I have mention above. It will take 10 minutes to get in proper temperature. Now put your cake tray inside the pan and put lid on. Here your cake will take 30-35 minutes to cook.


Tips: After 20 minutes check your cake. Use a stick or fork and put it in middle of the cake till the bottom and bring it back. If it comes clean then your cake is ready, else we need to bake it for another 5-10 minutes.

Your sponge cake is ready; let it cool for a while then you can enjoy your home made sponge cake with your special one.

Yes, you can make cake without oven. Actually I have made cake without oven and it came out perfectly. In that case 1st you have to make you cake batter using my recipe. Then put it on a butter brushed tin. Now take a thick based tawa/kadai, put ample amount of salt to cover the pan/ kadai base. Then put the tin on it & Cover the tawa/kadai by a lid. Bake for 35 minutes on low flame. Your cake will be ready.

How do I make a moist cake?

Moist cake is fully depends on the cake’s measurements. If you have used less oil on your cake then your cake will be hard and sticky. I thing measurement is the only key to make a perfect cake.

What makes a cake light and fluffy?

I have a trick to make my cake light & fluffy. For this, we need to use our juice jar of mixer. Now blend the all ingredients (oil, egg, milk, sugar) together for 2 minutes. Then take it out into a bowl, add flour, baking powder & soda into it & mix them all. You will see the difference after following the process.
