CHANA DAL CUTLET RECIPE

WHAT IS CUTLET:

Cutlets are one type of starter dish. There are verities of cutlets, like veg cutlet, dal cutlet, corn cutlet, chicken cutlets, rajma cutlet, rice cutlet,  etc. Today I am sharing with you chana dal cutlet recipe. This is a totally vegetarian dish and has crunchy outside & soft inside. Try this simple chana dal cutlet recipe with me.

INGREDIENTS:

1cup-250ml/230gm; *1tbsp.–Tablespoon; *1tsp.–Teaspoon; 

  • Chana dal – 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves – ½ cup
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp.
  • Green chilies – 4 pieces
  • Rice flour – ¼ cup
  • Turmeric – 1tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Eatable soda – ½ tsp
  • Asafetida (hing) – 1 tsp
  • Oil – for frying


INSTRUCTIONS:


1.     Soak the chana dal 3-4 hours or over-night for the cutlet.

2.     Don’t use extra water to make lose batter. We need little tight batter for this.

3.     You can add onion in your ingredients

4.     Instead of sallow fry you can choose to deep fry.

5.   After making these cutlets you can use them for curry. It will also be a great dish.


HOW TO MAKE CHANA DAL CUTLET:


Step 1: Put the soaked chana dal into a mixer jar. Blend them for 2-3 minutes.

Step 2: Now add 1 tsp of cumin seeds, coriander leaves & green chilies into the mixer jar. Blend them all together for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: Take out the blended chana dal into a bowl. Now add 1 tsp of asafetida (hing), 1 tsp of salt , ¼ cup of rice flour, 1 tsp of cumin powder, ½ tsp of eatable soda and 1 tsp of turmeric into the bowl. Blend them all well.

Step 4: Give the dal batter into cutlet shape. You can make them round or rectangle shape.

Step 5: Add oil on the preheated pan. Now put the cutlets on pan and fry them all on medium flame.

Is veg veg cutlet good for health:


Veg cutlets are healthy dish. It contain lots of good vegetables & mostly they are fried into less oil. Healthiness is depends on what kind of ingredients you are using in your food. So choose natural ingredients & stay healthy.

Why do my cutlets break:

Cutlets need a good binding ingredient, like potato, egg, corn flour, all-purpose flour etc. If you have not used any of above ingredients then it's quite obvious that your cutlets will break before frying. One more thing, make a little tight batter or smash your veggies little tight. It will give you a advantage to make good shape of cutlets.

Can we use suji instead of breadcrumbs:

Yes, you can use suji instead of breadcrumbs. Even you can use rice flour into the veg cutlets to make it crunchy.
